Managing Call/Shift Schedules
-
Divide schedules for your department into Blocks.
-
Add residents by synchronizing the schedule with a
block schedule or add them manually.
Residents are automatically added to blocks if
they are synchronized with the Annual Rotations Schedule, but they can also
be added to blocks manually to handle unexpected circumstances or cross-covers.
-
Create a Typical Week of calls and shifts for your department so that
starting work on scheduling a new Block is a snap.
Making Schedules
-
The shifts and calls for each Block are created with just one click
thanks to the Typical Week feature.
If there are exceptional circumstances (such as holidays) you can adjust shift and call
times individually in the Block, and add new shifts and calls.
-
Make complex interdependent schedules using Areas.
You can assign shifts and calls to one Area, and specify which Areas each resident works in.
For example you might have a 'Green' and 'Orange' Area (team).
The program will remind you of the assignments if you try to add a 'Green' team resident to an 'Orange' shift.
If the teams combine for the night call, you can assign that call to both 'Green' and 'Orange'.
-
Specify which residents are on night float.
The program will remind you of who is the night float when you are making the schedule.
- The software keeps track of the following things for you:
- Requests for days off.
- Start and end dates for residents added via a rotation schedule.
- Minimum time required between shifts or calls.
- Desired total number of calls and shifts for each resident.
- Number of week-end calls or shifts.
- Number of day shifts, night shifts, etc...
- Assigned Areas.
- ACGME Duty Hours.
- Highlight a resident in the schedule,
and instantly see where on the schedule he or she could work.
The software highlights in green the shifts and calls where the resident
have had adequate rest and have not requested to be off, etc...
- Highlight a shift or call in the schedule, and
instantly see who could work at that time.
The program highlights in green the residents who have had adequate rest before that
time and who have not requested to be off etc...
- Instantly find out the pros and cons of adding any resident to any shift
by putting the mouse over a shift or a resident:
- Set target number of shifts / calls for each resident,
and instantly see which residents have too many or too few shifts or calls.
- Mistakes (such as putting a resident on while they requested to be off)
are highlighted in red and give an explanation for why the resident should not be on.
Exporting Schedules
-
The program exports your schedule in a clean and easily readable
PDF file which can be viewed, printed and emailed.
PDF files (Adobe's Portable Document Format) can be used on any computer.
